Mission Impossible: How to Visit Rome in 48 Hours

If you’re planning a very short stay in Rome or you have a lay over in the eternal city and don’t really know how to spend it, this post is definitely what you need! Here are some tips to get the best out of 48 hours spent in Rome

.1. Choose your Rome accommodation carefully!

Rome is a big city and very spread out. You wanna make sure to stay in a central area to avoid taking public transportation as much as possible and not to waste time stuck in the traffic of the city.

2. Consider a one-tour-does-all option

The one-tour-does-all option is not always the best one. You end up seeing everything and nothing at the same time, however in this case it could be a nice solution. Join a tour, reduce waiting time and get a general sense of Rome and its historical relevance.

3. Don’t try to do too much

You have 48 hours and Rome has centuries of stories. You CANNOT see everything so don’t try to do too much, better to do less but enjoy. After all, you’re on vacation!

4. What you CANNOT miss

Some spots have to be visited: the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, St. Peter’s Square and the Vatican Museums, Gianicolo hill and well, if you could stay a little bit longer….

5. Take 5 minutes to live like a local

Even if you only have 48 hours, take a deep breath and enjoy your surroundings. Stroll around the Trastevere small alleys, enjoy an ice cream, talk to locals, get into the lifestyle, that’s one of the most fascinating things about Rome.
